My buddy and Prozacs band mate, Jed, played the acoustic guitar, and I sang…facing each other…with my cell phone in between us on the arm of a couch. Played it live and captured it simply with the standard voice recording app. Took a few takes and picked the one with the least amount of screw ups! Thought it would be fun to break it down to this most basic, raw and loose rendition.
The Vapids are like that bond…the glue…holding onto the core values of the punk rock and DIY asthtetic. They are an underground banner carrier, in the spirit of the Ramones. Jimmy is relentless and inspiring in his will, desire and passion to keep moving forward.
DON'T PLAY GAMES WITH MY HEART has been one of my favorite songs by The Vapids since the release of the split with The Riptides. It's got more of that Screeching Weasel / poppy melodic feel to it… as opposed to the guitar driven, Ramones barrage they more frequently are known for… and it's always stood out to me.
